New to this but my philosophy is to go for square pixels and then double or quadruple from there. It looks way better than the DVD imho. It's maybe debatable if the upscale is worth it over the QTGMC or not though. I think it is but it's fairly subtle. Maybe there's a way to squeeze more out. I read that at 200% it's actually only 66% more resolution or something. It's complicated and I don't really understand it.

I expect to get better at it, and the upscaling software is bound to improve.
