Video
Second Sight's release features a new Dolby Vision/HDR regrade of the 2020 Le chat qui fume restoration, and has the best encode of the bunch (from Fidelity in Motion).

Audio
All available sources used the same audio mastering, except for a few early DVD releases, which used an unauthorized alternate soundtrack.

Mondo Vision's notes on the alternate soundtrack: This audio track features alternative music. It is not the director's approved version, and is included for completeness.

Most notable is the addition of the piano theme during the subway miscarriage scene, the repurposing of music originally designed for the deleted Abe character, and the removal of music during a pivotal scene.

A handful of releases, including POSSESSION's first US DVD release (ironically billed as the "e;Director's Cut"e;) were issued only with this audio track. Accordingly, this Blu-ray Disc is the first release of the film in its original form in North America.

It is strongly recommended to watch the film with the original director's approved audio.

Preferred alternate audio and director's commentary tracks from the DVD, as all later sources appear to be lossy transcodes. Tracks from AUS UHD and FRA UHD discs were slowed down to 23.976 FPS to the main source.
