This is the Hong Kong Rescue Project's Ultimate Blu-ray of John Woo's Hard Boiled, v2.0.

This special two disc set was professionally authored by 'Hong Kong Rescue' -- a team of dedicated fans who have worked together to bring several well known HK films to Blu-Ray with the attention and care that they deserve. HKR's discs all feature professional-quality BD menus, special features, and cover art.

The video for the main feature is sourced from the Paramount Japan BluRay, the only BD of this film to have a true HD transfer. The audio for this set includes more than a half dozen audio tracks:

1. The Original Cantonese Audio in Uncompressed PCM Mono taken from the laserdisc
2. Cantonese DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 Remix
3. English Dub in Dolby Digital 5.1
4. Mandardin Audio in Dolby Digital 5.1
5. Commentary from John Woo, Terence Chang, Roger Avery and David Kehr sourced from the OOP Criterion DVD
6. Commentary from John Woo sourced from the Fox Lober DVD
7. Commentary from Bey Logan sourced from the Dragon Dynasty BluRay

The subtitles are also custom, redone in a much better font and the ideal size for readability.
This 2-disc set includes every single special feature that has ever been included on a home video release. For the special features, you'll find the following on disc two:

1. The ENTIRE extended Taiwanese cut of Hard Boiled, which is properly deinterlaced and upscaled to 1080p resolution, properly pillarboxed to preserve its original cropped aspect ratio! It doesn't look "e;great"e; but given the source material, it is much more watchable than it ever was before!

2. The Making of Hard Boiled, which is a one hour and fifteen minute documentary which came from the French HKVideo DVD. Much of the interview is conducted in English but some is in Cantonese. It can even be hard to understand the English dialogue due to the heavy accents. Since this came from the French DVD, there were no English subtitles.

However, the author of this 2-disc set hired a French speaking person on Elance to translate ALL the subtitles into English! This 2-disc set is the only place you can see these HKVideo special features with English subtitles.

3. Interview with John Woo - Taken from the Dragon Dynasty Blu-Ray.
4. Interview with Terence Chang - taken from the Dragon Dynasty Blu-Ray.
5. Interview with Tony Leung - taken from the French HKVideo DVD. Interview is in English and Tony's English is very good so no need for subtitles.
6. Interview with Philip Chan - taken from the Dragon Dynasty Blu-ray.
7. Interview with Kwok Choi - taken from the Dragon Dynasty Blu-ray.
8. The Alternate Opening Scene to Hard Boiled with different takes and cuts.
