Naked by Mike Leigh has been newly remastered by the BFI National Archive and its presentation (which is in a slimmer ratio compared to Criterion&s 1.85:1 ratio, gaining or losing information around the frame) provides a far sharper, far cleaner picture, with a more film-like look.

Colours are different from Criterion's, this time supervised by DP Dick Pope who, in a note accompanying this release stated that:

The new colour grading reproduces the film&s original bleach bypass process, referring to an original 1993 release print held in the BFI&s collection.

About audio, the BFI release offers both the Original Dolby Stereo track and a Remastered Surround Upmix carrying a chunkier bitrate. I kept both and chose the order as BFI presents it, with the 2.0 track as main and 5.1 as an alternative.

The commentary by Mike Leigh, David Thewlis and Katrin Cartlidge is the same one found on Criterion&s Blu-ray, outside of the mention of Criterion being cut out the track. BFI offers that as a dual mono track while Criterion's is a mono track; used the one from BFI because Criterion's should have been changed from 23.976 to 24fps and lossless conversion of an .ac3 is not possible as far as I know.

I chose to stick with BFI's SDH English subs, because more complete and consistent than Criterion's. OCR'd them and made a full version while keeping the OCR / SDH.

Named chapters were taken out of Criterion, synced to I-frames or to scene change in a couple of instances.
